Newly Appointed Chair – Mimi Leung
Bringing a fresh perspective to the 2024 event is newly appointed Chair Mimi Leung, who was previously a board member for 12 months before taking on the leadership role. Shepparton-based Leung is an internationally recognised artist who works closely with culturally diverse and youth communities to develop and share their own stories.
Leung’s multidisciplinary practice includes illustration, painting, writing and moving-image and applying a lens of curiosity and playfulness to the world around her as well as within.
Leung hopes to bring this mindset and approach to this year’s festival program.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces from our community at the 2024 festival, and catching a glimpse of what people have been up to since last year,” Leung said.
“I also can’t wait to introduce my kids to different types of art and cultures without having to drive all the way to Melbourne.”
