Shepparton Jazz Orchestra

The Shepparton Jazz Orchestra are a Jazz big band who perform established works from the Jazz repertoire by Count Basie, Duke Ellington etc. We also commission and perform works by local composers. We have performed at venues in Shepparton and at the Shepparton Festival as well as the winter market in the Shepparton Mall. The members are all experienced musicians, some working as music teachers, others work various fields but share a love of jazz music. Musical director Wade Gregory is a well known figure in the Shepparton music scene, He composed the musical “Dookie” and is a former Sheppartonian of the year.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners, the Yorta Yorta Nation and the clans whose lands cover the area now called Greater Shepparton, the Kailtheban, Bangerang, and Nguaria-iilaiam-wurrung. We acknowledge that First Peoples have never ceded sovereignty over their lands. This always was, and always will be, their country. We are conscious that colonial laws and practices led to displacement and disempowerment, and that they continue to do so with a profound and rippling effect. We pay respect to Elders past and present, and to emerging leaders. We value their vision and strength that enabled the continuity of culture and connectedness to country.
