Indigo Carter

Ruby Wyatt-Carter (she/they)
Stage name: Indigo Carter

Ruby is a young artist and musician who has lived in the Moira Shire for most of their life. After finishing high school, they were offered a job at a small art gallery in Nathalia called The G.R.A.I.N. Store. They started out as an general gallery assistant and worked their way up to Gallery Manager and now Exhibitions Curator. Outside of their gallery work, Ruby has been involved in Shepparton’s Out in the Open Festival as an artist in 2020 and 2021, then joined the committee in 2022 as Artistic Assistant and Artistic Director in 2023.
Ruby started playing guitar at the age of 11. It wasn’t until age 13 that Ruby heard alternative rock for the first time and fell in love with it. After that, their passion for music started growing. At age 16 they picked up the bass and started recording their own music using garageband. Ruby finished high school with a cert iii in Music Performance and went on to study a cert iv in Sound Production. In 2019, Ruby joined their Mum’s indie rock band as the rhythm guitarist. In 2021, Ruby started teaching guitar and bass and now runs a successful business. In October 2022, Ruby released their first album ‘SMOKE’ under the name Indigo Carter.
