Doppelgangster

Since 2015 Doppelgangster (UK/Australia) has created iconoclastic and experimental performances – responding to themes of class and climate crisis. Their current projects include work for unconventional spaces, intimate face-to-face encounters, online environments, and large-scale spectacles. Doppelgangster have been called ‘Wildly experimental and wildly entertaining’ (Daily Review), and ‘Theatrical saboteurs’ (The Age).

They have toured throughout Australia, UK, and Europe; putting on shows from laneways to galleries; major theatres to back porches; from a bowls club in Brisbane, to a concrete underground vault in London, to Paris’ Grande Palais.

The company is led through a collaboration between UK-based perfromance maker and academic Dr Tom Payne, and Naarm-Melbourne’s trouble maker and theatrical enfant terrible Tobias Manderson-Galvin, with a network of artistic collaborators, conspirators, and sometimes you.
